About Crest

Crest is a mountain community on the eastern border of El Cajon, California. Residents enjoy the rural ambiance as well the views as this neighborhood is located 1,620 feet above sea level.

Crest was once known as La Cresta and Suncrest until the 1950s. Neighbors joined together at that time to create the volunteer fire station, a water district, and their own elementary school. Today this community is comprised of over 2,000 residents.

Crest is served by Cajon Valley Union School District and Grossmont Union High School District. Students may attend highly ranked facilities like Granite Hills High School as well as Los Coches Creek Middle School and Crest Elementary School. There are also several private institutions like the Christian Unified Schools, Holy Trinity Catholic School, and St. Kieran Catholic Schools. Nearby colleges include Grossmont College, Cuyamaca College, and San Diego Christian College.

This community is within walking distance to South Lane Park and to the southwest is the Sycuan Indian Reservation. The Sycuan Golf Resort offers 425 acres of golf, tennis, and dining facilities. There are two 18-hole courses called Willow Glen and Oak Glen. And there is an 18-hole par three course called Pine Glen. This club is also available for weddings and other special events.

Residents are minutes away from the 8 Freeway and the San Diego Airport is about half an hour away. There are many shopping venues nearby like Parkway Plaza, Plaza De Las Palmas Shopping Center, and Broadway Plaza.

El Cajon is a city in San Diego County that is surrounded by mountains and whose name means “the box” in Spanish. This is also the home of Taylor Guitars, the nation’s number one acoustic guitar manufacturer.
